Clare and Mom

Mom’s Me Time

I look up to my Mom; she raised two kids, ran a dance studio for 18 years, volunteered with PTA and other school functions, has been married to my Dad for 38 years and continues to love us like nobody’s business! I have so many memories with my Mom, especially driving to the dance studio on a daily basis for at least 15 years of my life. We had countless choreography sessions while driving and a lot of times when listening to a tape—yes, a cassette tape—she would say, “can you rewind that?” or “oh, go back!” then come up with the perfect bridge in a tap dance or ending to a ballet routine for her students. We sang along to the music and made lists of songs we could use for recitals in the car. I also learned a lot about entrepreneurship and how to care for your customers.

The small moments those drives created are priceless. In fact, they inspired me to branch out and dive into real estate. I’ve taken everything I learned from those drives and plugged it into my business, guiding my clients along the way and choreographing every move during the buying/selling process to take care of your needs. Being the Godparent of your home includes so much more and that is where the small moments of value happen with my clients.

Mother, mommy, mom, mum, mama, ma’; whatever you call her—or whatever your kids call you—we all know that moms are typically doing a lot for others. The to-do list never shortens and moms (unfortunately) seem to be required to be good at just about everything. But one thing she may not do very well is to take time for herself. “Me Time” often sadly gets put at the bottom of the list.

For my Mom, her “Me Time” includes the beach, spa time or just a good lunch conversation with a girlfriend (or me, of course). What does your Mom do to take “Me Time?” In this season where there is unknown, we are having a bit of our own unknown contest. As this month’s Item of Value, go to www.SociusAustin.com (or go here) and register that special Mom in your life for a gift as amazing as her…and yes, “her” can mean “you” in this case, so don’t be shy about entering yourself! Maybe she’ll appreciate brunch with the family, or some new ink from the local tattoo parlor. You decide! No matter the outcome, I’d love for you to send me pictures of you and your mom (or you and your kids) doing something special this Mother’s Day, even if that means connecting virtually.

It’s a good life!
